Monaco

A difficult weekend but rich in lessons for Théophile Naël

6 juin 2025

The legendary Monaco circuit: a unique challenge for every Formula 3 driver

Monaco, the jewel of the Formula 3 calendar, is much more than just a simple street circuit. It embodies precision, rigor, and mental strength. For young drivers like Théophile Naël, it is an emblematic challenge: the slightest mistake can be costly, and every overtaking maneuver is an achievement. It is in this ultra-demanding context that the third weekend of the season unfolded for our French driver.

Qualifying: A difficult lap to master

From the practice sessions, the tone is set: little margin for error, a lot of traffic, and a car struggling to find the right settings on this unique layout. During qualifying, Théophile has to contend with an extremely dense pack and a race configuration that does not forgive.

The result: a 23rd place on the grid, which neither reflects the commitment nor the efforts made, but shows the adjustments still to be made to optimize the car in such atypical conditions.

Sprint Race: Patience, strategy, and mastered overtakes

On Saturday, Théophile approaches the sprint race with clarity. On a narrow track not conducive to overtaking, he prioritizes strategy: staying clean, avoiding incidents, and maximizing real opportunities.

🎯 Result:

  • +7 positions gained

  • 3 remarkable overtakes, executed with skill

  • P16 at the finish, in an extremely tight pack

This race, although outside the points, represents a true step forward in understanding the demands of Monaco. Théophile proved his ability to read the race and adapt his driving to a high-pressure situation.

Main Race: A performance cut short

On Sunday, it’s time for the main race: longer, more strategic, and offering more points. Théophile shows an exceptional pace from the first laps, even holding the fastest lap in the race for several consecutive laps.

But just as the recovery was looking promising, a collision with a competitor abruptly ends his ambitions. A frustrating retirement, indeed, but above all a strong indicator of his pure speed and potential.

Summary: Learning, maturity, and looking ahead to Barcelona

Despite this point-less weekend, the analysis is clear: Monaco has been a real-life driving school for Théophile Naël. This circuit has allowed him to:

  • Work on mental management in extreme conditions

  • Refine race settings on urban tracks

  • Develop an essential resilience capacity in the championship

« This weekend was not easy, but I come away stronger. I learned a lot about myself, the car, and how to manage races in an urban environment. I can't wait to be in Barcelona to make it happen. » – Théophile

The NT Motorsport team is already fully mobilized for the next meeting in Spain, with a firm intention to capitalize on these lessons to score valuable points.
