The Zandvoort circuit, renowned for its 14 technical turns, including a banking hairpin, is particularly difficult and subject to unpredictable weather conditions. Last weekend, bad weather further complicated the drivers’ task.
A tough qualifying round for Théophile Naël
In Zandvoort, Théophile struggled in qualifying as the team sought the best settings to adapt to the changing conditions.
Having twice started from 16th position, Théophile unfortunately failed to score any points for the first time this season. Nevertheless, he came close to the top 10, demonstrating his potential on one of the most demanding circuits on the calendar.
Théophile Naël: “A difficult but instructive weekend”.
“The whole weekend was difficult because we had to constantly adapt to changing conditions and race behind the right set-up. Together with the team, we managed to optimize a number of factors, but the ones we were lacking in severely handicapped us in qualifying. And with grid position playing such a major role, it was impossible to aim for great results in the race. We did have a good balance, especially on Sunday, but it’s complicated to overtake at Zandvoort.”
Next race in Budapest
The next FRECA event will take place in Budapest on June 22.
