A strong performance, a cruel result

After a more difficult weekend in Austria, Théophile returned to the track at Silverstone for the fifth round of the 2026 FIA Formula 3 season.

On one of the fastest and most demanding circuits on the calendar, the Frenchman immediately found himself back at the front. A front-row start in qualifying, a spectacular fightback to the podium in the Sprint and a second-place finish secured on track on Sunday: the pace and fighting spirit were definitely there, even if a penalty cast a shadow over the final result.

A front row under pressure

The week-end began in encouraging fashion with a sixth place in free practice. Feeling comfortable from the very first laps, Théophile quickly confirmed the good feeling behind the wheel.

However, qualifying was to test his composure. After having his first two fast laps deleted for exceeding track limits, Théophile found himself without a representative lap time as the final minutes approached.

With only one real opportunity left, Théophile delivered. He pulled off an excellent final lap to secure second place, just 260 thousandths off pole position.

My final lap was fast, but clean at the same time. I might have left one or two tenths out there, but I am very happy with this second place.

A fightback to the podium

With the Top 12 reversal, Théophile started 11th for Saturday morning's Sprint Race. The objective was clear: attack and seize every opportunity.

Lap after lap, he climbed through the field and closed in on the leading group. In the final laps, the battles came thick and fast, but Théophile refused to give in.

It all came down to the final lap. After overtaking Noah Stromsted, he caught up to Matteo De Palo and found a way past in the final corner to snatch third place on the line.

A climb of eight positions and another podium, at the end of a race full of attacking intent and determination right down to the final metres.

Second on track on Sunday

On Sunday, Théophile returned to the front row for the Feature Race. Making an excellent start, he immediately pulled alongside Freddie Slater and then remained at the heart of the battle for victory.

The battles followed one another in a particularly hard-fought leading group. Théophile fought notably with Louis Sharp, then had to resist pressure from his pursuers before a safety car intervention late in the race.

At the restart, there was only one lap left to decide it all. Théophile made the most of the battle ahead of him to gain a position and caught up to the leader in the final corners.

After pushing all the way to the end, he ultimately crossed the finish line in second position.

A result that does not reflect the performance

Unfortunately, moments after the finish, Théophile received a ten-second penalty for not slowing down sufficiently after being forced off-track by Louis Sharp.

A sanction that dropped him down the order and stripped him of the valuable points of a second-place finish that had been earned on the track.

The frustration is inevitably there, but it must not overshadow the level of performance showcased throughout the weekend. Second in qualifying, third in the Sprint after starting 11th, and then second under the chequered flag on Sunday, Théophile rediscovered the speed and fighting spirit shown since the start of the season.

Still in the battle

Despite this frustrating Sunday, Théophile retains his third place in the championship.

At the mid-season point, the Frenchman therefore remains fully committed to the battle. Silverstone did not deliver all the points that the performance deserved, but the weekend confirmed that the pace was there to fight at the front.

After Spielberg, the aim was to bounce back and immediately rejoin the leading group. Théophile did just that in qualifying and never backed down from the fight all weekend.

Heading to Spa-Francorchamps

The FIA Formula 3 will make its return from July 17th to 19th at Spa-Francorchamps.

Another meeting at one of the most legendary circuits on the calendar, with a clear goal: to keep moving forward and score precious points in the championship.
